Celebrating 10 years of Employer Engagement for Immigrant Employment
March 7 and 8, 2017 ~ Shaw Centre, 5 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa
The annual Employers’ Summit is a premier event that brings together over 100 business, government and civic leaders in a program designed to engage participants in a dialogue about the effective integration of skilled immigrants into the labour force, and to celebrate employer excellence in Ottawa.
Employers play a central role in successful immigrant integration. When employers take responsibility to ensure that their workplaces are effectively tapping into Ottawa’s pool of skilled immigrants, they create solutions for their own talent needs, and contribute to successful employment outcomes that benefit immigrants, the wider community and the economy.
As Hire Immigrants Ottawa marks its 10th year of engaging Ottawa employers to foster solutions to workplace barriers for immigrant employment, the 2017 Summit will highlight the workplace practices and policies that leading local employers have successfully used to leverage the skills of newcomers. Summit speakers will outline the actions taken within workplaces, the impact they have had on business or organizational performance, lessons learned, and future opportunities to leverage Ottawa’s Global talent for innovation and growth.
The Summit program will include a keynote address delivered by The Honourable Ratna Omidvar, C.M., O.Ont. Senator, The Senate of Canada, a half day workshop on Maximizing Difference: Defining Inclusion and Human Equity facilitated by Author and Global Human Equity Strategist, Trevor Wilson and presentation of the 2017 Employer Excellence Awards.
