Alice is an independent management consultant with akpsGlobal, based in Ottawa. Her practice focuses on human dynamics in organizations, particularly around leadership and team practices. Her interest in motivation and behaviours have led her to conduct and present research on cultural diversity, professional development and non-profit board governance, locally and abroad. Alice is a Senior Fellow with the Centre of Governance at the University of Ottawa, actively mentors MBA students, and also volunteers as a Director of Governance and HR with Daybreak Non Profit Housing, Chair of Governance and Board Secretary on the Ontario Council of Certified Management Consultants and Chair of the Discipline Committee on the Board of the Human Resources Professionals Association in Ontario. She has two amazing children with artistic futures, and a partner with a successful career in fundraising, and community development and settlement issues. Her experience encompasses providing sales, service and management for the administration, business solutions, finance and IT industries. Catherine has been in her current roll with Manpower for over 3 years and her client base includes national, North American and global entities.Catherine attended Carlton University where she studied political science and subsequently worked on Parliament Hill.

She started her career in the staffing industry in 1988 as an IT executive recruiter, and expanded her reach into Accounting & Finance, Government and Administration verticals. Her success is driven through her determination to provide creative, innovative workforce solutions.

Catherine’s current role as a National Account Executive coupled with her extensive professional experience has allowed her to become a subject matter expert in the evolving trends in the changing World of Work and The Human Age.

Susan Haywood is a human resources professional with over 15 years of experience managing in government, not-for-profit, and corporate environments. Her professional experience includes working as a Regional Manager of Human Resources with Pepsi, as a Chief Labour Negotiator for the City of Ottawa and as a Director of Professional Services before starting her own firm called Human Resource Blueprints Ltd. She has worked with clients to solve problems in all areas of HR, including performance management, leadership development, and selection and recruitment. Her clients are spread across Canada, the US, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Kate Morican

Associate Partner, Deloitte

Kate Morican is an Associate Partner at Deloitte, based in Ottawa. Kate’s experience with large organizations both private and public sector operating at the enterprise-wide level has focused on providing expertise in the alignment of Human Capital programs in support of major organizational change programs. She has worked closely with organizational leaders to identify scope and plan for change to achieve the strategic business objectives. She has significant experience developing change management strategies and plans to help leaders and employees transition quickly and effectively to the new environment. Kate is the National Lead for the Strategic Transformation and Change Services in Deloitte Canada. Some of Kate’s client’s include the Department of National Defence, Bayer Corp, Philips Lighting, Talisman Oil and Gas, Canada Post and Canadian Medical Association and MD Physician Services.
Kate has a background in Adult Education and has designed, developed and delivered many learning and development programs for leaders in organizations.

Jan Michaels

Senior Director, Labour Program HRSDC

As Senior Director of Labour Standards and Workplace Equity in the Labour Program of HRSDC, Jan is responsible for program and policy development and guidance for employment equity, the Racism Free Workplace Strategy, Labour Standards and the Wage Earner Protection Program. Prior to this, she was Director General of the Diversity Branch at Treasury Board and the Canada Public Service Agency. Jan has held a variety of strategic and policy management positions in the federal government.

Adrian Harewood

Co-Host of CBC News Ottawa and Host of CBC News Ottawa Late Night

Adrian Harewood is the co-host of CBC News Ottawa at 5, 5:30 & 6 and host of CBC News Ottawa Late Night at 10:55 on CBC Television.
Adrian made the leap from radio to television in the fall of 2009. Before he became the new face of CBC News Ottawa, Adrian spent three years as the host of Ottawa’s number one drive-home show, All in a Day on CBC Radio One (91.5 FM). As the host of All in a Day, Adrian interviewed hundreds of Ottawa’s interesting characters – getting to better know the city where he was raised.
Adrian grew up in the Ottawa’s west end and attended elementary and high school at Ottawa’s Ashbury College. He then moved to Montreal to study Political Theory and History at McGill University, where he was also station manager of the campus radio station CKUT.
Adrian has hosted many CBC Radio and Television programs including As it Happens, Sounds Like Canada, The Current and counterSpin, as well as Toronto shows Metro Morning, Ontario Morning, and Here and Now. He was also the host of The Actors, The Directors and Literati as seen on BRAVO and PBS.
Adrian has a keen interest in community involvement. He spends hundreds of hours every year at events in Ottawa and the surrounding area.
CBC News Ottawa at 5, 5:30 & 6 was recently awarded this year’s Gemini for best local newscast in a small market.

In the same year, Trevor published a highly acclaimed book entitled, Diversity at Work: The Business Case for Equity. The firm’s clients include some of the most progressive global employers, including Coca-Cola, Ernst & Young, Nike, EDS, Shell, The Home Depot and Raytheon. His approach was instrumental in catapulting Coca-Cola’s South African division to the top performing division worldwide.
