HIO receives Leadership in Diversity Award
Hire Immigrants Ottawa received the 2016 VOscar (Volunteer Ottawa Award) in the Leadership in Diversity category. The award is given to an individual, business, or organization that has successfully built an environment that supports a diverse, enthusiastic and engaged volunteer base.
In citing HIO’s award, Volunteer Ottawa said “HIO works directly with employers and showcase value of diversity in Ottawa’s workforce. HIO is not only a champion in Leadership in Diversity but also a unique source of expertise in cross-cultural competency building. More than 1300 employer participants have benefited from HIO’s cultural competency sessions designed to enhance their cross-cultural competencies for diverse workplaces.
HIO paved the way for other organizations and initiatives in Ottawa such as DiverseCity onBoard initiative for example to promote diversity in governance.”
HIO Wins Kroeger Award in Public Affairs
Hire Immigrants Ottawa received the 2010 Arthur Kroeger College Award for Citizenship and Community Affairs. The Award recognizes HIO’s leading role in engaging employers and stakeholders to enhance employers’ practices that affect the hiring and effective workplace integration of skilled immigrants.
